Prisca Leferink – Business Developer at IXA Amsterdam Neuroscience, Amsterdam University Medical Center

Since 2018, Prisca Leferink has worked as a business developer for IXA Amsterdam Neuroscience. In this role, she facilitates translational research partnerships between academic researchers and biotech and pharmaceutical companies focused on central nervous system (CNS) drug development. By identifying collaboration opportunities, she connects academic expertise with industry needs to accelerate the development of innovative therapies for neurological conditions.

At Amsterdam Neuroscience, Leferink is part of a multidisciplinary team focused on valorization activities, which involve translating scientific research into practical applications. She supports the development of intellectual property and the commercialization of scientific discoveries, always with the goal of translating promising research into tangible outcomes for patients.

Throughout her academic career, Leferink contributed to research on Vanishing White Matter (VWM), using induced pluripotent stem cells and rodent models to investigate the cellular dysfunctions underlying the disease and explore potential therapeutic strategies. She is also actively involved in the Vanishing White Matter Consortium, an international initiative dedicated to VWM trial design and accelerating potential therapeutics, eventually aiming for accessibility for all patients.

Leferink’s approach to business development combines a scientific neuroscience background with an entrepreneurial understanding of the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. This enables her to effectively navigate the intersection of science and business. At IXA Amsterdam Neuroscience, she is committed to bridging the gap between academic research and industry, supporting the development of new CNS therapies for patients.
