Nicole Wolf

Nicole Wolf is professor of Therapy of Leukodystrophies at the Amsterdam Leukodystrophy Center, the Dutch expertise center for leukodystrophies. She started working on leukodystrophies in 2000 when she was a trainee in paediatrics/child neurology in Heidelberg, Germany. In 2008, she moved to Amsterdam where she is PI for hypomyelination and metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD). She identified several new hypomyelinating leukodystrophies and tests biomarkers for these disorders, especially MRI. Regarding MLD, she works on treatment outcomes and disease/treatment mechanisms and is the driving force behind the MLD initiative, a European MLD consortium. She is directly involved in clinical care for leukodystrophy patients and is PI for several clinical trials investigating new treatments. She is active in the ERN “Rare Neurological Diseases” where she co-chairs the leukodystrophy disease group and serves as member of the management board.
