Dr. Genevieve Bernard

Dr. Geneviève Bernard is a pediatric neurologist and scientist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), and the MUHC Research Institute. She is a Full Professor at McGill University, holding positions in the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery and Pediatrics, and is an associate member of the Department of Human Genetics. Dr. Bernard leads the MyeliNeuroGene Lab, focusing on translational research in leukodystrophies, particularly hypomyelinating disorders. Her work spans gene identification, pathophysiological studies, therapy development, and clinical trials. She has been instrumental in discovering several disease-causing genes, including those responsible for POLR3-related hypomyelinating leukodystrophy (4H leukodystrophy).
